Sigh. What is a girl to do when she has a little 1/2 of a yard remnant of Barbarella print fabric and some tulle?
Might we suggest this? (sorry, the light balance is off in these)

Maddie wanted something interesting without it actually being a superhero costume. We stared with McCall’s #6350, that Barbarella remnant, two colors of linen, and some orange crinoline. Too bad all stories don’t start off with such interesting ingredients.

The pattern is actually surprisingly easy, with only the pleated detail in the center front bust a little tricky – there is a specific fold you have to make twice that is hard to read as a beginner, but otherwise this is. fairly smooth sailing project!
Although out of print, you can find McCall’s #6350 easily online.
You can read about it on Pattern Review here.
