Mitch worked up McCall’s #5252 as his first project.
The pattern calls for fleece, lightweight wool, or wool blends, so we worked this up in a fairly open medium weight wool suiting with a matching silk lining. Overall, the pattern is easy to follow, but you may want to hold off on it as a first project unless you like paying attention to details. Jackets like this can look great or terrible – they are so simple that there isn’t a lot of ground between those two.
But he buckled down and did a great job, regardless of the topstitching and invisible zippers!
